Steering Wheel

Postby lz33w7 » October 10th, 2024, 4:12 pm

Hello friends,

New to boats and just purchased an 1987 Mariner 3297. Can the steering wheels in these boats be replaced?

Kindly,
v/r,
Stephen

Yes easily. You need to pull yours off to see the shaft used but most likely it is a tapered shaft and keyway with a nut holding it in place. Some older units may have a splined shaft.

Here is a link to eBay, tons for sale there and where I have always found mine over the years.

You'll have to take measurements of what you currently have. The bore type and diameter is important for mounting but the diameter of the wheel is important too.
