On-board Fire Suppression Update Options

Postby SteveMyhre » October 17th, 2024, 10:55 am

I recently bought a 2014 Carver C40 with an outdated/discharged on-board fire suppression system (no fire, so it either had a leak or discharged). The previous owner never addressed it but since this is a safetly issue, I would like to get this fixed. It is my understanding that the current system is Halon and is not serviceable and the tank must be replaced. Is looking at options, there are MANY different options. Anyone know what the appropriate size system would be? Any suggestions?

You should look at the unit. Being from 2014 it shouldn't be Halon.

I believe they're rated to cover a max cubic footage of compartment space so you'll need to determine the volume of the compartment it'll be servicing, then choose the model accordingly. Best to be over rated than under rated.
