Hello Mateys. I have a 2005 Mariner and was able to secure a town mooring spot. I will be utilizing this for day trips and occasional overnighters. When I'm 'on the hook' I fasten to the centerline cleat which I know has a proper backing plate below deck. My concern with the port/starboard forward cleats to which the pennant lines attach at the mooring is that they are fully reinforced below deck. I am not able to visualize from the anchor locker. I have included an image and am interested in your feedback. Thanks.

Simple answer, yes, they are backed by plates under the structure. I believe the plates are 1/4 inch stainless steel or aluminum. High degree of pulling power. The other strength part comes from how the topside is connected to the main hull. Your owners manual should define how that technique is done. Good luck. er

If you are talking about the mooring cleats that are mounted to the top of that raised coaming/kick rail then you may have to see the bolts from the top sides of the berth. I believe those may be the type that are bolted from underneath.
