Trans lights always on

Hi all. Just purchased a 2003 466 in August. So far very happy but working out various bugs.
I have the ZF transmission and electronic controller. At the helm, the lights on the transmission controls are always on. It’s not hurting anything, but just seems wrong. Does anyone have this condition and/or figured out how to get them to turn off?
Also, my engine sync and rudder gauge is not accurate. Has anyone solved this problem?

That trans light is supposed to be on until you build enough pressure to the transmission sensors. Usually happens at about 1200 rpm. Then they should turn off. If not, make sure you have enough fluid in the transmissions, and no leaks. Could also be the sensors. The rudder gauge has a slight adjustment possibility. Mine is also a little off, but I know where straight is on the gauge. Finally, engine sync off? How do you know this for sure. If engines are in sync, you will hear constant noise coming from engines, not a waa - waa - waa- waa sound. It is common for throttle cables on one side or the other to stretch over the years, which translates to your actual stick controls to look uneven. The sound is more accurate when determining sync. Where in Michigan are you? I keep CBTL in Menominee, in the UP.

Hi Cooler! We are in Mackinaw City Marina. Stop by if you’re headed that way and look for Knowing Knot.
Where is the adjustment for the rudder located — back of gauge?
The trans light issue is different. I’m referring to indicators on the electronic controller at the helm. These lights should be on when the engines are keyed on. Problem is that they are on even when the engines are turned off.

It would help if we knew what equipment you had; engine package, remote control unit make and model (shifter/throttle). Is this Volvo by any chance?
The adjustment for the rudder angle gauge is done at the sending unit which is located at the rudders. You'll see a sender with an adjustable arm hooked up to one of the rudder arms or the rod connecting the two rudders together. The sender arm or the adjustable linkage hooked up to it can be adjusted to achieve the correct reading. Turn the wheel until the rudders face straight back. Have someone at the helm monitor the gauge while you make the adjustment until they let you know that the needle is centered. Barring a problem with the gauge, wiring or sender, you should be able to get a good adjustment.

Thanks Viper. I’ll check for adjustment at the rudders this weekend.
I have the Cummins 480ce with ZF electronic trans controller. The gauge package provides very little engine data and I’m considering sbmar electronic package. The Raymarine autopilot also shows Rudder angle and it seems to be accurate.
I’ll let u know what I find on Monday
