Fuel Starvation

I recently went out and when applying full power to get up on plane the port engine would not accelerate past 2000 rpms. After several attempts the engine quit. We checed the racor filter and determined the fuel was low in the filter. We topped off filter with 3 cuos of fuel primed the engine and she fired right up. Came back in and replaced the filter and orings. Went back out and same problem except it came up to 2800 roms for a short time and then rolled back. It never quit again but its clear I have a fuel starvation issue. Cant figure out why? Ran boat with fuel cap off to check vent and same issue.

What type of engine? Do you have a primary spin on filter or some type of filter on the engine apart from the Racor? Fuel pump? In tank suction strainer?

I know this sounds obvious, but are you sure you've got enough fuel in the tank?

They found low fuel pressure and ran engine from another tank and had same low fuel pressure. Odd that it would somtimes run fine and other times not run a all. I beleive it ran better wheb tank was fuller. I guess it help with more gravity pressure.

Spoke too soon, engine shut down again today after replacing lift pump last week. Mechanic came right out and bypassed fuel selector valve and problem reoccured. Bypassed raco filter and engine ran oefectly for 45 minutes. Had replaced filter and orings last week so ordered a new Racor.

At least you are narrowing down the cause. Sometimes you just have to keep plugging along until the problem is solved. Good luck, hope you solve it sooner rather than later.
