Battery Connection Drawing

Postby cfmosier » September 16th, 2013, 10:03 am

When we turn on the battery charger for each engine, they click right back off again and we think something might not be hooked up correctly. Does anyone have a picture or drawing of how the battery connections go for a 2002 Carver 396 with diesel engines. There are five batteries and we think it is one for each engine, 2 house batteries in parallel and 1 generator battery, but purchased the boat used (and neglected), so we don't know for sure.

If nobody can supply you with an OEM Carver drawing, I bet if you went to the website for the OEM of the charger, they have a drawing.

When you say click right back off, do you mean the 120vac panel breaker?
I would think if the DC side of the charger were hooked up wrongly, there would be internal protection not dependent upon the 120vac side. Maybe start with tracing down the wire and connections on the AC side from the breaker connection to the charger connection. Maybe somebody installed something and drove a screw through the 120vac wire?
Thanks
