1986 3297 Mariner Windows

Post by Grussell »

My Windows leak. Has anyone ever replaced and upgraded thes RV type sliding windows with custom designed Windows. I've been told rebuilding/restoring the original Windows will not entirely solve the problem. They are all currently caulked sufficiently to stop the leaking but are non-functional in this state. Any direction/suggestions are appreciated. I fully expect to spend what it takes to resolve this problem.

Owned this model, I do not believe you will find a replacement, Taylor made a lot of these for Carver, you may check with them. My thought is you may have to remove the entire window, maybe a glass install shop could re-bed the sliders for you and you can re-bed the windows back onto the boat. Mike

I have a 1989 3297 mariner......... I just used a tooth brush after I took the windows out ( their are some small rubber trim pieces in the tract of the windows in the top that need to be removed ) and be sure to clean the small slots out at the bottom of the windows that let rain water escape if you do not clean them the water will dam up and move inside the boat instead of dripping outside and down the sides of the boat

I'm sorry guys I'm new to this form I'm trying to get the window out of my 1989 3297 mariner. So I can replace the one that's cracked. How did you fine those rubber trim pieces in the track? And if you can help that would be great. Bob

There is a company in Washington, Motion Windows, Peninsular Window . They have built several several windows for me. Very reasonable, and better yet easy to install. And there glass. Use Butyl for sealing.
