Heat exchanger end covers

Post by Ondercin »

So last year while putting the boat away I'd noticed a small crack in the cover plate of my heat exchanger (oem part number 44446)
I put the boat in the water yesterday and fired my engines up and noticed a small drip from the end cap. After removing the end cap and getting it home it actually broke in half..
I've been searching the web for a directly replacement of the end cap without having to replace my current heat exchanger.
I've found several on the web but because rubber gasket has a groove right to left in the middle I'm worried if it won't seal properly... Now if that is the case I can use just the new end plate but I'd rather replace the seals and all.

hopefully the picture shows the groove I'm talking about.

Okay so I spoke with Mr. Cool (www.mrcool.us) and he advised me that when the gasket was first installed it would have been flat... That is what it looks like after being installed for 10-20 years

The part I ordered if anyone is ever looking for it: End Cap with Gasket Kit - 5 inch sku # MC-SK1500C

The guy i dealt with was Russ very fast service!!!
