Did you get your tach issue fixed? My 1982 3007 was doing the exact same thing last year, I was sure I had a gauge going bad and ended up losing power in the middle of the lake due to a bad distributor cap. Tach jumped around occasionally as well as sync gauge.

Yes it's fixed. Turned the selector switch on the back, back and forth, a number of times. One wad a little more persistent but ask is good.
Thanks

mine is beginning to do it again when its over 2500RPM on port side. Last year after all parts and labor, it was resolved and it was doing it after an hour. but when I checked filter had brown dust like thing, so replacing fuel filter, it was good for another hour. Also as long as 2000RPM or less, no problems with tach. Than just before end of season I had port tank cleaned throughly and left it completely empty till this season. Was good on first ride out, then started again with tach moving around. Engine seems to be fine, but I don't like things jumping around. I will replace filter next outing see if there is still stuff in the tank that should not be.

What mine would do is indicate, say for example, 2500 rpm, then it would double, then go to 3750, then back to normal. It couldn't make its mind up whether it was a 8,6, or 4 cylinder.
Thanks

waybomb, was yours going crazy at all rpms or after certain range, like mine seems to be fine up to 2500 or little over at 3000 and above its fluctuating. But I do not hear engine reving up and down though. I am too lazy to flip port and starboard gauges to see if it is gauge issue. Also sync seems to be sometime off, sometime in center. So not sure that gauge is bad also? I mean compared to last year, the engine, knock on wood, is doing well. I saw a tach gauge on ebay, exact same one I have, but looks like it was sold already last month... I should check everyday, maybe another one pop up somewhere :) Does anyone know of any particular gauge that is a straight swap with 356 carver 2000? Has anyone replaced one to another model?

Have you tried exercising the cylinder choice screw on the back? Turn it between 8,6 and 4 many many times.

Fixed mine.

Mine was a problem from idle all the way through the rpm range.
Thanks

The starboard tank still spits up some crap once in a while, and fouls the tiny WIX filter and some even gets by that and gets into the 4MV screen.
I am tired of changing the filters so I bought two giant Racor filter/separators and tied them in right after the selector valves.
Made a bracket out of some good plywood, screwed and epoxied joints, covered with resin and chopped glass.
It should take quite a bit of junk to foul these.

I know this is an old thread, but does anyone know where you can get those lights? I have a 350 mariner that has the Hera E1 lights. I want to replace them all cause they are pretty much either broken rings, or lights, or glass...

Anyway, want to just cut the cord and swap out with LED's. Looking for help.

I replaced all mine on carver 356 aftcabin for same reason, also halogen was getting too hot. Got mine from superbrightleds. First I got cool, but they were to bright too white. I then went with warm white. they look great.
