Very cool. (actually I was shiverrin when I watched that! :) )

How thick does the ice get there? Are you ever worried about puncturing the hull on an edge?? Do you leave the boats in all winter?

Its unusual to have ice, so this hopefully is a one off this year. We plan to leave the boat in through the winter, although about 1/2 in the marina come out onto the hard. I was worried about a sharp edge, but the temp wasn't low enough to make the ice that hard. I just used the throttle to lift and bounce the bow a little using the weight to cause it to break up. Was more surprised when we came back in after 4 hours out, my track had refrozen, and my berth had a covering. Today has been warmer, so expect the ice to have reduced. This ice was thicker than I thought. In the mid channel it had got thicker, to about 1".

Interesting to see, I guess one of the reasons for my life long obsession with boating was being introduced to it on the Broads when very young.....will be nice to see more of your river....... :beergood:
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

Great videos, thanks for sharing. Looks like a nice place to own a boat.

I would take a close look at the gelcoat on your stem at the water line. Ice can get pretty sharp and damage the gelcoat. You don't want exposed glass.

Good advice as always. Fiberglass boats are not meant for ice breaking. Hopefully there was no damage.

No damage done. The ice was quite soft. We don't have the long deep cold you guys get. Back up to 10 degrees c today.
