anyone know what the normal running temp would be? boat is lake water cooled.

Typically would be 140 or 143F. In freshwater, you could run a little higher but in saltwater the salt will come out of solution over that and cake everything up. You have a similar problem with the minerals in freshwater, but not quite as bad.

I prefer running 160* in a fresh water lake for a raw water cooled system. Unless a previous owner made a change, it's likely you're running a 140* stat as KM mentioned.

Both of the 'stats on my boat appear to hold at 160* unless pushed hard. I can sustain 15 knots or so before one of the engines overheats. She's a 3867 Santego.
