Blocking for Storage

My marina which is about 100% houseboats hauled my 1993 300 Sedan and put it on wood blocks on the four corners instead of on the keel. Is that OK? When I first saw the boat last winter, the then owner had it sitting on keel blocks with the jacks bracing the sides.

Previous owner had it right....what are those jack stands doing under the boat on either side of the keel ??...boat should be sitting on keel blocks with chine supports only to balance the boat....you really should get that rectified....

Whether your yard believes it or not, you can actually warp/bend a fibreglass boat with improper blocking, as boats relax when in the water. but can't in the parking lot on blocks.....looks like giant jenga..

I think have blocks under the keel would make more sense than the 2 jack stands. Agreed

That's a new one for me! They're sure making it harder on themselves. Three sets of blocks under the keel and because it's lower to the ground, they would use fewer blocks, four stands, and you're done. Hope the ground doesn't shift and put too much pressure on those stands under the hull!

I know the proper way to do it. Blocks under the keel with jack stands to stabilize, but the marina (they probably have never done a fiberglass cruising vessel) did what they did. My question, while not the best way to do it, will this be OK?

IMO it is not ok....You may get lucky and it may be , ,but like I said, a boat can be damaged by improper blocking......if it were mine that would be rectified. You know the right way, buy them some coffee and have a talk about it.

The stands under the chine allow for adjustment as the ground moves around over the winter.

They must be so used to house boats they don't know how to block a "regular" boat.
As mentioned, the keel should be blocked in about three places and 4 stands to keep it upright.
The way it is, it will flex and move. make sure all of your interior doors are open, as they will bind.

For 1 winter? I can't say that any damage can be done. I mean, 1 winter. Next year, show them pictures on how everyone else is doing it.
