Volvo EDC engine gateways

Post by Alaska 530 Voyager »

Hello, any chance any of you have installed an engine gateway on TAMD Volvos? I'd like to install them on my 99 530 Voyager with TAMD 122s. Sounds like it will be different than the folks with the newer D series motors. Hoping to beg some wisdom. Thanks, Dave.

I am not quite sure what you mean by an "engine gateway".

If you're looking for NMEA 2000 connectivity, there are gateways/interfaces for just about all comm/data architectures from the oldest to the newest gas and diesels. Pretty sure Volvo has them and so do a few aftermarket providers.

Sorry, I should have provided more detail to my request. Yes, I'm referring to the N2K network. I'm upgrading electronics and will be removing analog gauges to make room for new MFD's. I need to put rpm, temp, oil psi, etc on the network and view on a MFD. I have been researching since my first post and have settled on Yacht Device for the gateways and tank level sensors. Now I'm trying to map out a cable network to bring everything on line. With constructing a new dash, routing all cables, and establishing a network, I've taken on a decent DYS job. It's cold up here so winter time activities on board are less than ideal. Let me know if anyone has any experience with the Yacht Device gateways. It would be great to hear from someone who has experience with them. Thanks, Dave.

I Installed engine gateways on my 2003 57 Voyager with Volvo D12's. YDES-04 https://yachtdevicesus.com/products/170 ... ay-ydes-04 I have been using them for three years with no problems. They do take some configuration if using on twin engines.

Thank you. I picked up the same ones and am in the process of programing now. I'm about to post some pics of my dash project on my 530. Take a look and let me know what you think. Dave.
