Strange water pressure issue

Post by Smoken »

We just purchased a 2000 Carver 53 Voyager. When we are connected to Marina water every faucet works great, including our shower in the master. When we use the water pump, our master shower has zero pressure, both from the faucet and if we switch to the wand. Every other faucet works perfectly. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Are u saying just the master head water units have no pressure on the pump or just the master shower head? Possible replacement unit(s) with water saver aerators? Location of pump in reference to the master head? Longest run from pump?

If I understand correctly, all water within the shower is non functional when you use the water pump however when plugged to city water, everything works as it should.

That being said, sounds like somebody installed a check valve in the wrong place as what you are describing is not possible on a stock configuration unless they screwed up at the factory and the previous owner thought it was normal.

Somebody needs to follow the line from the pump to see where it is connected to the system globally and from there, follow the line to the shower.
Cheers, Hans

When you say zero pressure, are you saying your shower has NO water coming out ( or a trickle ) when on the ships pump as opposed to normal when on shore / dockside water.

Could be as simple as, clean the shower fittings/screens or at least see if they are restricted. If the ships water pump is at a much lower pressure than the shore water or starting to fail then it may just not overcome the restriction.
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

Ya all the above. A blockage is usually the culprit but can certainly be due to a failing pump as well. Sometimes a two pump system is used on larger vessels, if this is the case in your application, check to ensure both are actually working though I would expect that you would still get some water if all you had open was one faucet and had only one of the two pumps fail.

Keep us posted.
