How to remove wallpaper

I have an 1983 3607 Aft and in the long process of updating the interior. I am trying to remove the dirty and stained white wallpaper throughout the cabin. Does anybody know what carver used to attach the wallpaper and what can be used to peel it off?

In a previous post, an owner was looking for adhesive info in floor carpeting. He contacted Carver, and they told him it was a typical adhesive used in residential applications. I would imagine same answer for wallpaper, although I am surprised to hear there is wallpaper at all. If it was me, I would check with a neighborhood wallpaper supplier, or maybe a Home Depot/Lowe's nearby. er

Is it wallpaper or vinyl wall covering? If its the factory vinyl they used a spray on contact type adhesive.

Thanks for the reply. I called it wallpaper but I don' really know what it is. It looks like some type of fabric. I'll go to the boat later and take a picture.

OK. That makes sense. We know what you have, and yes it is a light fabric. If memory serves me correct, the person who posted this similar question updated to say the carpet/fabric peeled off easier than he expected. Try that before you introduce more chemicals to mix. Maybe have a wide blade scraper handy. Good luck! er

Above is the Wallpaper. It does seem to be attached by some type of adhesive and is hard to remove.

You may want to run a hair dryer in advance of peeling sections, warm up the adhesive. Or, maybe it is just too dried out to be easy. Take your time, turn on some music you like and embrace the frustration. Just think about how nice it's going to look when you get it your way! er

Use a hair dryer as Cooler suggests or a heat gun, just be a little more careful the heat gun as you can damage adjoining areas if you apply too much heat. You may find that some areas peel off really easily if the glue has dried out, those areas may have already lifted/separated. You'll want to make sure the surface is properly cleaned and prepped before you attempt gluing the new covering.

Thanks you'all. I did buy a heat gun but is still tough. Viper, you mentioned properly cleaning and prepping the underlying surface before recovering. What is this process?

I removed original wallpaper in a 2000 sq. ft. house I bought 7 years ago. The surface hadn't been primed and the removal was awful. I ended up skim coating most of the walls and then primed. Thank god my wife decided to paint instead of papering. That's all I know about the process so far.
