Fresh water fill adapter
Hi everyone! my wife and I live on our 1988 3227 Carver Convertible in a marina. Were constantly filling the fresh water tank. Does anyone know of any adapter type kit to enable water to remain connected and keep the system full? thanks for any help!

You basically tap into any cold water line closest to where a convient location to drill a hole to accommodate the water inlet. You simply attach the hose from the pedestal to the new inlet and turn on the water which gives you an unlimited supply, it does not fill the tank. You must turn it off for safety sake when leaving the boat as if there is a plumbing failure you could sink the boat being there is an unlimited supply of water available. They look like this. https://www.westmarine.com/buy/shurflo- ... et--183725

Ya not much to add except that you would tee into the nearest cold water line as long as it's not between the water tank and the fresh water pump. The dockside inlets as Hans has mentioned are available with different water line hook ups. Make it easier on yourself and get one that will make hooking up to your existing plumbing hassle free. Those units also incorporate check valves which prevent the water coming out of them when you remove the dockside hose and run your on board fresh water pump. They also incorporate a pressure regulator to control high marina pressures.

kinda seems strange that there isnt a inlet already on the boat somewhere for dockside water.

Re: Fresh water fill adapter
There is a hose inlet/pressure tap on most 3227 boats on the starboard side of the cockpit in the stowage cubby. Do you have the swim platform shower? The inlet has a T off the line that runs from the fresh water pump to the transom/swim platform faucet.
If your boat does not have this option, then my suggestion would be to simply put a t fitting on the pressure side of the fresh water pump located in front of the starboard engine, run some hose or pex back to the cubby, and put a hose fitting in. That way it looks like an original setup. You may want to add a fine screen or even a full water filter to the new supply line - some marinas don't have the best water quality... The best way to access the water pump is through the hatch inside the salon just forward of the sliding door.

Re: Fresh water fill adapter
There is a water inlet on the starboard side of the boat. I've seen other boats have shore water continuously connected to their vessels providing a constant supply of water. ours doesn't have this, we have to fill the tank with a hose every time the tank runs out. I've heard about an adapter kit that will accomplish the same thing but haven't been able to find it. Thanks everyone for your replies!
