Eisenglass

Post by rjr »

Recently had the rear bridge window replaced using strataglass. Installer said window could be cleaned with a weak vinegar & water mixture. Does a great job. Just wondering if there's a long term effect from the vinegar.

Also wondering if I can use it on the eisenglass panels I recently had replaced (Different installer - he gave me the fish look when I asked). I currently use Klear to See which works fine.

What do you think about the vinegar solution and what do you use on your glass?

I have used Klear to Sea, Plastex, all seemed to work fine....now I use Imar on the recs from the installer of the new top and windows.

Can't comment on the weak vinegar solution on plastic....ok on real glass though.
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

My goto product is Plexus. Has gotten really expensive over the years though.

Plexus here too!
Also use it on my old convertible bimmer's rear "window" and my eye glasses which are plastic. Amazing stuff.
Thanks

I use Imar only. Previous owner used Plexus, but the Strataglass was getting a foggy look. After a few applications of Imar, the fog went away. 8-) er

Old school method here - Lemon Pledge. Works great and won't leave scratches. Also good for taking dark water marks off fiberglass.

When I replaced some Eisenglass with Strataglass earlier this year I received this from the Strataglass folks when I regestered my new glass.

To ensure you get the best performance out of your vinyl, may I suggest putting a base coat of the Strataglass Protective Polish on both the inside and outside surfaces as soon as possible. The Protective Polish is great for deep cleaning Strataglass as well as adding an additional barrier against harmful UV rays and contaminants. Also, keep a bottle of the Strataglass Protective Spray on hand in case your curtains come in contact with any harmful chemicals. It is a quick spray and wipe that cleans nicely (and you’ll love the scent). Both products are made by IMAR and can be found in most major marine stores and online. Care instructions can be found on the sheet provided by your canvas installer or on our website: http://www.strataglass.com/care-and-maintenance.

I believe there used to be some good reports of the old pledge without lemon but I think that's now changed. The previous owner of my 405 used pledge with lemon and mine will fog up at times and are stiffer when rolling. I won't use it plexus and imar are both good stuff. you may want to read up on several articles on pledge now ,just saying in case you didn't know.
