Leaky Canvas @ Support Poles

So I am sitting on the boat on the flybridge with my wife and coffee while checking out CYO this morning and it's raining pretty good. My problem is I have dripping coming from the support poles of the roof. Not a downpour but enough to be annoying. I unzipped the support pouch and can see the entire length where the pole touches the roof is leaking obviously caused by the contact of the pole. This is through the canvas not a seam. Any recommendation to fix this as opposed to spraying the area with canvas sealer which will most likely be temp fix due to the pole contact. A couple of small foam strips like for plumbing? Any idea would be great to try. Please advise.

You could wrap the bar with sunbrella but I think the waterproofing will be needed anyway.....according to my guy he wanted the top waterproofed every year after the first couple of years when new. The foam will bond with the heat and suns rays.....not my first choice but just my opinion.

I know you want another idea, but I spray my canvas every year with 303 Fabric Guard. It seems to help, but last year I made a mistake and sprayed it with 303 vinyl guard. I didn't realize what I had done until I finished. Well we are now about a year later and the vinyl guard seems to be doing a better job of water repellancy than the fabric guard did. I don't know if its bad for the sunbrella or not, but there doesn't appear to be any ill effect at this time.

anything other than waterproofing the outside of the canvas will simply divert the water to another place of outlet. You need to stop it from penetrating the canvas.

303 Fabric Guard is the best product for this. Remove your top and lay it out on the ground in the sun. Spray two coats.

I did my fly bridge cover every year. Never had this problem after started using the product.

I will give it a try however the top is really water tight except for the pole contact area. I use Starbrite but I guess it pretty much boils down tho the same thing. https://dansnauticalshop.com/products/w ... -with-ptef

My top guy says fabric guard once a year and you will never have an issue. Guess everyone was right. Thanks for the input all.

Not that I doubt anyone here however I question everything until it makes sense in my own head.
