HELP!!! Anchor windlass isn't working. Whenever I select UP or DOWN movement of anchor, I hear a click and nothing happens. Had someone diagnose and he thinks the motor has burned out as the UP foot switch was stuck in the engaged position. I've ordered a new replacement motor but not sure about the actual repair to replace the motor. Quick technician says it's not considered and easy job. Anyone have any experience replacing the motor?
I should mention this particular windlass comes complete one unit that sits on the deck. No motor mounted below deck.

Did you verify you have 12vdc at the motor. If it was stuck in the up position you may have popped the breaker.

I believe there was power to the motor according to the electrician that diagnosed.tomschauer wrote:QR_BBPOST Did you verify you have 12vdc at the motor. If it was stuck in the up position you may have popped the breaker.

That said, if it was a popped breaker, where would I locate such breaker to verify its pop-worthiness?tomschauer wrote:QR_BBPOST Did you verify you have 12vdc at the motor. If it was stuck in the up position you may have popped the breaker.

Hard to say, exactly. On the 3607 there is a "windlass" breaker position in the middle of the main DC panel, but it may not have been used. If you do have one there, check to see if there are large wires on the back. If they did use it, it may have just been for the control circuitry and will only have relatively small wires (12ga or less).Peter3607 wrote:QR_BBPOSTThat said, if it was a popped breaker, where would I locate such breaker to verify its pop-worthiness?tomschauer wrote:QR_BBPOST Did you verify you have 12vdc at the motor. The other thing you can do is try to trace the large wires from the windlass back to the batteries. Just look in the forward engine room bilge for any pair of large wires going forward and that's likely them. You can trace from there back to the batteries to see where they connect. Technically, there should be a breaker or fuse 6-7" from the battery, but that requirement is not always complied with.
