fuel injector service

This is a proactive maintenance undertaking. At 2000 hours, which is when the maint. manual recommends it, I would like to remove the injectors from my 2003 Volvo Penta TAMD 75 PA diesel engines and send the injectors out for testing and reconditioning. I will remove and reinstall the injectors and would appreciate any advise on this process. Any precautions or mess avoidance would be appreciated. Any recommendations on where to send them for reconditioning? Guesses on how much $$ I am looking at? Thank You

Not that I can help but I am also interested in this servicing. Definitely want a shop that specializes in Volvo diesel engines doing this. I would also remove the injectors and send them in.

Twist with wrench and pull at same time after having removed fuel lines. If stuck, Volvo will make a tool for pulling the injectors to not risk damaging copper sleeve. I have TAMD 63Ps not 75 and on these you need to be concerned with coolant getting into cylinders if injector sleeve is disturbed, probably the same with yours. Some guys will just drain a bit of coolant, I think it's best to drain all coolant and use it as an opportunity to also replace the coolant with new stuff. You will need to clean injector sleeve and put new o rings on new injectors. There will also be a torque spec for new injectors, on mine it's 37ft/lb. Only use Volvo shop, mark every injector and what cylinder it came out of.
