I have a 1989 Carver aft 38 with a mid bilge pump problem. The pump was not working according to the survey. I bought new with a float because the old one quite old. I am getting no power to the location. switches are on,however in the aft stateroom the center switch which says mid bilge is not a switch but appears to be a pop out fuse. How do I reset it. I have cut the old pump so nothing should be tripping it. As a side note being new to this the electrical layout is maddening to say the least. Any suggestion would be appreciated
Mitch

Re: Fuse reset
So that panel's telling me that the Mid Bilge is on all the time and can not be turned off like the forward and aft pumps. It's possible that breaker is weak, would have to check with an amp meter when pump runs to see how many amps its pulling and if it's not more than the breaker rating the breaker would be weak. Do you have bilge switches at the helm that you can activate the pumps manually and over ride the float switches?

Re: Fuse reset
ALL of those in the picture are breakers. The white button will pop out when it trips. After you correct the problem that is causing the tripping, you should be able to push the button back in. If the button won't stay in, then you haven't solved the problem or you have a faulty breaker.

Re: Fuse reset
Do both your batteries work? Those breakers are tied directly to only one of the batteries, so even if the other battery is good enough to start the engines the bilge pump might not work if one of the batteries is dead
The center one is a pop-out breaker, and it's used so you can't inadvertently turn it off, like you can the aft and fwd breakers. I'm guessing you have shaft logs that are supposed to drip a little, so the manufacturer puts those kind of breakers in so that there should always be power to that center bilge pump.
