Waste Tank filter replacement

Post by westpacjohn »

I have a 2009 Carver 38SS. Does anyone know the make and part number of the waste tank filter? I can't get into it close enough to find it. Also, any ideas on the best places (cheap prices) to order it? Many thanks! John Brown

So far, all of the later model Carvers I've dealt with have used the 1 1/2 holding tank vent filters (not the 3/4" like Sea Ray). Two approaches...a $50 approach goes to eBay and orders an AirForce Holding Tank vent filter and just replaces the darn thing. A $20 approach takes the filter off, cuts it in half and cleans it out (use gloves), puts PVC connectors from Home Depot on the cut ends to screw it back together when finished, puts two round scratch pad ends on both ends, fills up an old pair of pantyhose with some activated fish tank charcoal (and cuts off the excess), put the charcoal filled pantyhose in the tube, screw it back together and put it back where you got it. The advantage of going with the second option is that you can have some spares pretty easily if you need them.
