Inverter Inline Fuse?

Purchased an Eliminator inverter 2000 watts that I plan on mounting in a kitchen cabinet as it is not ignition protected. Question is the inline fuse provided with the inverter ok to mount close to batteries in the engine compartment or is a marine fuse necessary? Any guidance would be appreciated.

I believe you will need an ignition protected fuse for use in a gasoline engine compartment. Can you power up the inverter from your main panel thru a breaker ? What will the use be, calculate how much draw you will actually be using.

Just to run a coffee maker in the morning mainly. I plan on running direct from batteries to inverter in the kitchen area.

Use an ANL fuse of the amperage rating stated in the instructions. You'll also need an ANL fuse block. Regardless of what you're powering up, the fuse needs to be able to handle full rated inverter load. Pay special attention to the length of the circuit; from battery to inverter and back to the battery. This will determine the gauge of wire you'll need to use. Don't cheap out on connectors. These things can be dangerous if not installed properly because of the amount of current involved so be careful here.

That is a fairly large draw depending on the coffee maker, good you are running cabling direct from the batteries.
