How to connect water heater to engine?
I just replaced the rusted Raritan water heater on my 1985 3207 with a new Kuum water heater. Easy replacement for the most part. I would now like to connect it to the engine to heat water while in route. Does anyone know where I am supposed to make this connection on the engine(s)? Thanks, John

Re: How to connect water heater to engine?
If the engine wasn't already prepped for it, you might need to add some nipples for the hose connections.
On some motors, you just remove the little hose that goes from the water pump up to the intake manifold. It's a short hose about 4" long and then connect the two hoses to your water heater to those two nipples. On other engines there will be a couple pipe plugs in that same general area that you remove and screw in some nipples. When I did this I used some "swept 90 degree" nipples to make it easier to get the hoses on and off. If you take a couple pictures of the front of the engine, it might be easy to point it out. At least post the info on what engines you have so someone could look up the model.

This is already sounding helpful but pics would be great. Thank you. It's the 270 inboards in my boat.

You'll need a Crusader Engine manual should be one on line and it will have the diagram on how to run the heater hoses to your hot water tank!

I should have asked if yours was raw water cooled or fresh water cooled... it might make a difference.
Here is a pic of a 270 where someone has the hookups:
