Are you seeking advise on how to do it or how/where to run the cable on a 396?

Hopefully someone with the same model/year will chime in with how they access the routing.

I have a Carver 44 CMY and it should be the same run. It would not matter if the antenna is mounted on the port/starboard arch. Remove the panel on you helm to expose everything under the dash.

For a starboard arch mount, run your new cable from the radio o the starboard side and down the starboard side of the brow, under your co pilot seat, behind the ice maker and cupboard and to the arch. There should be an access panel on the inside of the arch and then to where your antenna is mounted. This is the side mine is on.

On a port install, run the cable to the port side of the dash and then under the bench seat. Remove the bench seat cushion to allow you access. Run the cable back to the port side arch. There should be an access panel on the arch to assist in running the cable up to the mounting position.

To assist you to get the cable through, use an electrical fish tape. When I run wire through my boat I normally pull some twine/heavy string/nylon strap through first and then use that for the cable, but you don't have to. To set you up for the next thing you need to do in the future, I would also pull a twine/string/nylon strap through with your cable and leave it there for the next time you need to fish a wire through that area.

Hope this helps you.

Greg
