8.1 Volvo Gi throttle issue
2006 396 MY with Volvo 8.1 Gi won’t throttle up past idle on the port engine. I swapped out the throttle body from the starboard engine and still had the same issue. Replaced the throttle position sensor and still not working right. Engine will start and throttle up after disconnecting the battery but when shut off and started again won’t throttle up. It’s almost like it going into a safe mode. Strainers are clear and no overheating issues while idling. Any ideas?

Re: 8.1 Volvo Gi throttle issue
Because it tries once after you reset it , it is possible there is a sensor the ecu doesn't like.......My advice is to get a mechanic with the proper diagnostic equipment for Volvo and have him/her look for codes and faults.
In the mean time just check all your grounds, battery connections , connectors etc especially if any work was done down there recently.....good luck man, these things can be frustrating.

FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.
