I am interested in installing a stern thruster on the 506 to aid in getting my boat onto its side tie in our downwind situated slip. Do any of you 506 guys have a stern thruster and if so do you know which one you have? I have a side power 135SE on the bow which works ok but a little more trust would be helpful on the stern I imagine with the windage this beast has.
Thanks

Contact Imtra. From the boat model and the unit you have on the bow, they'll tell you exactly what you need and put a package together of all the parts and pricing for you.

Thanks Viper, That will be the plan, I am hoping to get some real world first hand experience from those with thrusters installed. I guess there are just very few and not very active 506 owners on the forum. I killed my FB account so don't know if there is more activity in that medium or not but my principles wont allow me to find out.

Did you get anywhere with this? When you talk to Imtra, ask them about their Proportional units and what it would take to convert your current one to a proportional system as well. My understanding is that they can take your current motor and revamp it, then just add the additional hardware and cabling to it. They cost more but have a few benefits over the conventional ones. I especially like the feature that will hold the boat up against the dock.

Re: Stern thruster suggestions for 506
I abandoned the idea when I was successful in adapting my wireless remote helm to my EDM controlled drives. Now I do not need to use a stern thruster to dock the boat without experienced crew. Since I shortened the wire run to the bow thruster by 20 feet the thruster actually seems to have more thrust to boot which will be helpful against my prevailing crosswinds.
