Look under the table to see how the shaft is attached........the weak point was in that joint, the joint was just screws into particle board. There may have been a repair which attaches to the table bottom and the shaft bracket now attaches to that, moving the bracket farther from the table bottom......that would keep the table from sitting on the ledge it was designed to stop on.
