Hull thickness on 1994 39' cockpit Motor Yacht

Post by tonyiiiafl »

Been looking for a transducer to install in our new to us 1994 39' Cockpit MY. My last Bayliner was fiberglass over plywood. Is this the case of a Carver or is it just fiberglass? I am looking at an Airmar B744V, but also have the B744VL (extra long) one available. Which one should I be buying? I would hate to own two! Any help would be FANTABULOUS!!!

Carver hulls are solid fiberglass, and the standard length transducer is fine. The bottom will be about an inch thick, give or take.

Does your answer ref. Carver hull layups being all/solid fiberglass ( versus balsa core) … apply to earlier models; ie 1994 Carver 300 ?
Thanks,
Dirk

Welcome to the forum.....Can you expand on why you are asking as different boat model lines thru the years had different builds regarding glass/coring.
Many later year models were advertised as " no wood below the waterline", doesn't mean there is no coring, just not wood. I don't know the exact models or years. All solid glass hulls are extremely heavy and expensive.
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

In case this helps, my 95 Mariner hull has a minimum of 2" thickness in bottom of hull. Solid fiberglass. This info was provided to me by Carver customer service back in 2017. The info was published in the build out log for my specific hull, and was confirmed by a number of measurments performed with quality control inspection tools. I would imagine the hull on your 94, 39 foot model would be similar or even thicker, based on Carver's construction techniques. Good Luck! 8-) er
