Kohler 8KW generator

Should have posted this question first. New to this forum business!

Kohler 8KW Model 8E gas generator not turning over. Hear the solenoid clicking but starter does not turn. Brand new battery dedicated to generator. I manually turned over engine and it moves freely. Generator fairly new with only 25 hours on meter. Unfortunately, it has not been used in a couple of years.

Are you getting power to the starter when you call for it to turn over? if you do, it's likely the starter needs to be repaired or replaced, unless there is a solenoid on the starter. If there is, you'd need to check if its control side is being powered up, then go from there.

Get a voltmeter and find out where you are losing power. If the start solenoid is clicking, is it actually pulling in the contacts so power goes to the starter itself? Just because the solenoid, does not mean contact is being made.
