1992 36 aft cabin wiring diagram
Hi fellas, for some reason the 1992 Carver 36 aft cabin we purchased, did not come with the wiring diagram for the 120volt power panel. Every other Carver we’ve owned had the wiring diagrams in the owners manual, but not this one. I’m looking for the part numbers for the little resistors, or whatever it is attached to the main breaker.
Thanks for any information!

Re: 1992 36 aft cabin wiring diagram
Oh, one more question. Would anyone happen to know where the power supply comes from for the hot water heater? I unhooked the power to install a new hot water heater, and was not paying attention where the power comes from. I tried to follow the wires from the tank, but can’t figure out where the power leads attach, it looks like the wires attach to the rotary switch for house and shore power.
Thanks again
Thanks again

Maybe the hot side runs from the breaker/switch where you turn it on and off. Sorry I don't know the details on that boat but as always you never know what has gone before you as boats age.
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

Can't help you with the wiring diagram, but the water heater should be coming from a dedicated breaker in the 120v panel. If it is indeed directly coming from the house/ shore power you really should add a breaker and move to the breaker as the only overcurrent protection would currently be the breaker on your shore power pedestal or on the generator.

I agree with Tom that there should be a dedicated breaker for the water heater. Can you post some pics of your panel?
I also wonder what you're referring to when writing "the part numbers for the little resistors, or whatever it is attached to the main breaker." I'm thinking this is either the reverse polarity indicator, or actual power indicators to show you have incoming A.C. If you can snap some pictures of that too, it might help.
Overall, the 120VAC wiring is pretty straightforward. I see you have a genset and I'm wondering if the "rotary switch" you refer to is the transfer switch to select shore or genset source.

Re: 1992 36 aft cabin wiring diagram
Hot water heater should be on it's own breaker and clearly marked on the 120V panel. Having said that, I've also seen them hooked up to a breaker that's labeled "outlet", some chargers are hooked up like that too. Not a good labeling practice but....

Re: 1992 36 aft cabin wiring diagram
On one of my boats, the charger was hooked up like that. But it was also added by the PO, not the factory, and was wired into the closest outlet, so it kinda made sense. That boat didn't have a plethora of breakers for the AC side either... only four. (One for water heater, two for 'outlets' and one for stove)

Re: 1992 36 aft cabin wiring diagram
Thanks Fellas. Yes, the panel does have a dedicated breaker for the hot water, buy tracing the wiring from the hot water heater, it Seems as if the wires come from the hot water heater, to the shore/ship switch, and then goes to the hot water breaker on the panel. I’m just wondering if that is correct?

Re: 1992 36 aft cabin wiring diagram
Also, it looks like the positive (black) wire from the shore/ship switch does not go to the panel breaker marked main power on/off, but goes straight to the stove breaker. Does anyone else have the same connection?
Thanks again guys!

Probably NOT correct, but who knows what a previous owner might have done, and why they might have done it.MyPleasure wrote:QR_BBPOST Thanks Fellas. Does the "ship/shore" switch even look OEM?
I'd take some various pictures of the wiring and the setup and post them.
