I have a Radio Shack version of something similar I purchased several years ago. I would have to put it inside the refrigerator but it does give the high/low temperature reading.

I got this problem as well, same thing happened to me, both shore power and battery power no longer powered the refrigerator. There is definitely power on the plug, so I think something is tripped or burned out on the actual refrigerator. Have not had time to pull it out and take a look yet. Does anyone know of any sites with documentation or pictures of where fuse may be on the unit of an original carver 356 refrigerator?

I have a Norcold Model DE-561. According to the wiring diagram in the owners manual there is no fuse. It shows on/off switch, thermostat control, and non serviceable thermostat switching contacts. No fuses are in the diagram. Trouble shooting guide states the power source voltage and controls be checked if unit does not operate. AC voltage is converted to DC, the compressor operates on DC only. There are no fuses on the converter per wiring diagram.

Can you trace the AC power going into the 12 volt converter and then trace the 12 volt circuits? But then again you may want to see if any of these parts are available and replaceable before spending time tracing, and just spend your time buying that new fridge! There is a possibility that do what ever issue you may have had, long term low voltage on any motor or compressor is not a good thing at all. Happy shopping for that new one! Mike

Yes Fred the fridge will run on the battery when I away from shore power

I am brand new Carver owner and I am looking for a reason why my boat doesn't have power when hooked to shore. I looked in all the obvious places and do not see a shore switch. 12V panel just doesnt work when plugged in. Am I missing a switch or do I have serious problems?

What do you have that runs on 120V?

When you say the "12V panel just doesn't work when plugged in", you don't get any power there? You won't from just the shore power, you'd still be running on your boat batteries, but they should be getting replenished by a charger, if you have one. If you're not getting any power then you have something wrong on the DC side of the system.

Ya I agree. Do you have a charger? is it working? Have you checked your batteries and all connections? Did you get a survey?

I had an 1988 Montego. The shore power plugged into an the cubby by one of the speakers. There was a 120v breaker in the same cubby, you really had to get in there and look to see it.
Then you should have another 120v main at your power panel between the head and rear cabin.
