Can you push some mesh through , then pull it back to the hole with a string or wire attached and add your filler? Just a thought. Mike

How deep is the hole.?...I have filled holes with hardwood dowel soaked in resin then just clean up the outside and finish how you want.....just make the hole the same size as the dowel should be interference enough to hold in place....

Wayne162 don't get concerned about the amount of difficulty. I have arthritis and struggle with any activity requiring some hand strength. the project should go smoothly using a good putty knife and a mullet to break the 3M chalking between the outer and inner storage box. Use a 1 inch putty knife with a rounded edge and come in at an angle that allows the knife to penetrate the seam about a 1/2" and tap the knife along the seam. The knife should follow the seam and break the bond as you go. I had some help breaking the final bond with two of us pulling the lid and inner liner from the outer. Once removed you will see the 10 screws attaching the outer box liner to the swim platform. Use a hand screw driver to remove the screws. Don't make my mistake and use a power driver. You get a better feel for the screw in wet rotten wood. I started drilling over size holes with a 3/8" hole. many of the holes were fine and had good wood chips, three ended up having 1/2" holes drilled with wet wood. I used a 1/4" dremel ball bit to under cut the wood below the fiberglass. I am giving the holes a couple weeks to dry before applying epoxy putty to the holes. Three of the holes will be flooded with a hardener before filling with putty. I have asked my surveyor to come by with his moisture meter to test. Structurally the swim platform seems fine, I see no weakness in the platform, I think I caught in time. Special thanks to g36 for sharing the problem. Dan

Your welcome Dan . I am very glad you looked into this. I was also fortunate that only a small amount of localized damage was found on a few of my holes. I hope others that have this storage box on their carvers will check theirs. Carver seemed to have skimmed on this. imo

Bud37 used your idea on two holes. Inserted epoxy and 1/2" dowels. Let dry and drilled a blind hole and filled with epoxy putty. Worked great. Thanks

I've heard of swim platform problems on these boats but no one could explain why. I now know. I also know my project list just grew! Bit of a poor choice on Carver's part not sealing the screws IMO.
