I don't know if your 3807 has one or two aft tanks. I have a single aft tank, I believe it is 120 or 125 gallons. I have dedicated fuel lines to the selector switch and I can run both engines on the aft tank. If I am going on a cruise of any distance, I use it first, then switch to the saddle tanks.
I don't use the aft tank often, but try to run two fills a season through it.

Unless it was an option and put under the bed, I don't think aft tanks applied in 3807s. I've never seen a 3807 with a tank back there but there is room for one. Pretty sure all the aft/aux tanks utilize dedicated lines for each engine so you can run both engines at the same time.

Sorry for the confusion guys. At one point, I did have a 3807. I'm now under contract to buy a 356 which does have 3 tanks.

You should be able to, as long as the vent does not have any restrictions (bugs, nests, kinks, etc)

What year 356? Our neighbors 2001 356 tank just let go. Rusted thru from the inside. The aft tank is a V bottom tank and all the moister collects at the bottom of the V. Plus I understand that Carver acquired some substandard tanks at one time.

Good grief...the tank lets go in 7 years....Maybe the takeaway from that is to assume the tank is bad and go from there in these models, not something I would expect.....maybe err on the side of safety, unless in your friends boat he had some electrical issues that were hiding in there to create the corrosion problem.....

Hi everyone. I have a 1990 Californian 45 with 3 Diesel tanks. Two 100 gal saddle tanks in the engine room and a 260 gal tank aft under the bed which has the water tank sitting on top of it. I heard somewhere these fuel tanks leak because of their low position near the bilge and corrosion problems. Has anyone else heard of this happening? Otherwise will have to pressure test which is kind of a pain since the shops in the area don't seem to specialize in tank pressure testing in place. Viper, have you heard anything about this?
