That's a rotten thing to see.Any idea what caused it?

So sorry to see that!! Hope you are OK in the recovery process and didn't lose anything you can't replace!

Same shop that was helping with oil pressure and prop vibration. Boat on the stand and I made time to move the boat to the slip on a Thursday. A problem was found Thursday which delayed the launch until Friday. But Friday the family and I had to leave for a cruise to Spain. So I wasn't available to move the boat. The shop said they would move it and hook it up to power.

What I think happened...is when mech was connecting the new prop shaft to the V-drive, he unscrewed the sea strainer wing nuts, to get better access. When he was done, he forgot to tightened the wing nuts and didn't make sure the sea strainer cap sealed properly. Sure, we all mistakes but....instead of parking the boat in the slip and waiting to make sure all was well, he didn't turn on shore power and left...I think it was late afternoon. From what I understand, it went down quickly and nobody was around to notice and security already came though.

Just curious, any updated information as to cause and how it will be resolved.

Odd, anyone with the slightest experience knows to open the engine compartment and check for water intrusion upon any launch. That is the most important item to think about when commissioning. If the strainer cap was partially open, it would have been obvious with a visual.

We're still working through the process.
Our family has been having with-drawl symptoms....almost every weekend in the summer, we were always on the boat.
Since SJD was sunk, we have to look for stuff to do. So far, the front and back lawns are looking good, shed is cleaned out and organized and the garage is looking really good and I fixed some house stuff.
The temperature has been really hot this summer...maybe because were not on the water!!!!!!!.

So sorry man, it doesn't get worse than that. Any issues others of us have had this season pale in comparison.

Still hanging around because it looks like we'll get another Mariner.
I know them inside and out and moorage will still be kept to $270 a month.
Anything bigger, moorage make a steep climb.
