I use a single drain plug UWL and it's enough for me, but I believe what you are suggesting is a gr8 idea!

I would go the drain plug route but my 3007 does not have a drain plug.

Rick, the trim tab approach would work for u. only need one hole to run the wires into the boat above the water line! I have the same reservation about drilling any more holes in the boat, but then again they do it everyday!

Maybe some day. I have other projects ahead of something like that. Next season I plan to install electronic ignition on the engines, also it will be time to replace the impellers.

Mallory Distributors & Thunder Bolt Coils? Rick? I think I got them at Summit Racing for our 1986 Mariner w/5.7's. Found out the distributors both turned the same way in mine so I didn't have to change the gear. She sure started a lot easier with no points! Oh and make sure there is NO juice going to the distributor wire(s) when u hook them up. One small arc and u'll fry the electronic pick up in the distributor. I learned the hard way!

Larry the new guy.
Just did our survey, think we found our boat.Just waiting for oil. Want to put lights. The drilling is not an issue other than hauling it out. Maybe when they paint. I could hook it up later. I assume I can wire up from the engine room to the steps to the helm. Looks like an access plate on the arch.

So the big question is how or where do you get power? Do I remove the fuse box or is there a buss of some sort?
I here people talk about a fused power supply pick up, where.
I was interested in cameras possibly to a tv ( rather than on my Furono nav net screen) . I saw a boat with 4 cameras showing on a 24”? I believe tv between the helm and lower cockpit.

New to power boating been a blow boater - just too damm old and on the Hudson River in NY

I would assume there's a power distribution buss under the helm, or some models have a breaker panel on the bridge somewhere; side wall, under a bench, etc. There should be a race going from the engine compartment to the fly-bridge. Follow the shift cables from the engines and that will give you an idea of where the race is, then you'll likely have to gain access by removing an interior panel or access door. Maybe one of the guys with the same model will chime in with the location of the race.

A question for the guys with these underwater lights......I wonder at what quality point you need to buy these lights so they are safe as far as not leaking 12v into the surrounding water ? Sounds like it could be a recipe for many dollars worth of damage to underwater metals if they are not installed properly.

This may not be a concern but nevertheless....I do like the effect though....
