Since you already ordered the new unit, before you pull out the old unit, make sure you look at the drawings for the new unit, compare the water and air inlets / outlets orientation and sizes, wiring etc. to your existing unit. Try to have any required additional materials on hand while your helper is there. After he has spent a day crawling bending and twisting, you may not get him back!

Be sure to note the water flow of the coolant pipes, which is inlet, which is outlet. It is easier now before everything gets all jumbled up!

DD - I have the original manuals for my 16K unit. If you need any info, dimensions & specs, let me know. I compared the measurements to the model Hans provided the link to. They look real close, although they do measure from/to different points. The diameter of the blower output is 7". Net weight of the unit coming out is 82 lbs. New unit is lighter. Isn't it great to have sons with long arms? Make sure he wears gloves, so no slicing takes place. If splicing wires, use the correct type of connectors, no place for wire nuts. Good luck! er

You will be surprised how cold it will get with this unit. The newer stuff is so much more efficient not to mention quiet. You will not hear the compressor at all, only noise will be the blowing air.

As others have mentioned take a look at what you have. Pretty simple, the water circulation hose that goes to the side thru hull is obviously the out line of the AC. Hopefully the ducting used by Carver was the standard 6" round at the unit which may or may not need to be lengthened to make the connection. 110v is simply swapped into the new unit and the thermostat will probably need a new wire as they all now use a telephone jack style connection/wire. In my case since the boat is newer and the thermostat wire/connector was already the correct one.

Cooler says the new unit has a 7" air outlet. Your existing unit more than likely has a 6" outlet. One 7 x 6 sheet metal reducer needed. 7" is not a real common size, you may not find it at lowes or HD. Any HVAC supply house should have that reducer.

Hey Cooler,
That was the same code as I was getting on mine. The a/c guy that looked at mine said the fan motor 'shorted' out and burnt the board when that happened. It would not heat or cool as the fan wouldn't run. Even when I ran the self diagnostics test it showed all was well. even showed the fan running in all five speeds although it never came on and the water pump did not come on.

Hey all, correction to the blower size. The current unit has a 7" outlet. I do not know what the new unit would have. A 6" outlet would be for a 12,000 BTU. er
