Go to the holding tank pump out station and try that. Should be the same fitting. They often collapse holding tanks so maybe that will work. Don't know if it''ll hold it's shape but worth a shot as it's easy and readily available. Disconnect the hose from the tank to the fresh water pump and plug it off as Tom mentioned to prevent damaging the pump.

Good idea on the pump out station for vacuum.

Thanks for getting me in the right direction, I was set to go all goofy with tank squeezing. A little closer look and saw that the vent / overflow is about 2' above the tank, hmmm....maybe a little standpipe pressure. So I tried pumping a little water out of the tank and that seemed to help some, Then, thinking of the negative pressure suggestions, I put my thumb over the vent while the pump was running and voila, the tank bulge disappeared. The Boss says maybe I should not fill the tank so full, she is probably right.

I added a couple pics, but I am having a little trouble with the technicalities. I hope I am not smearing the forum finish.

HI all, been a looong while since posting here - as most of our issues we solved after digging around a bit and talking to some old salty dogs

Our Montego has been doing well for us when there's no wind, a booger to return to the slip in a breeze.

All this is leading up to today and why I'm posting in this thread - We just put a deposit on a '95 310 Santego today! Sea trial tomorrow @ 5pm PST!!!!

Any valuable insider issues I should check out while during the trial? Is inboard's, haven't had a look yet, did Carver do V-drive, or direct? Still Borg/Warner - or did they switch vendors?

Also, running into a HIN issue - at some point the HIN was changed from a Carver to a "homemade" HIN, presumably cuz original HIN didn't conform to new as of 1984 standards? Make sense to anyone here?

Capn - Carver did both direct and v-drives in 95. Mostly V. BW was the most popular vendor, but a few had Hurth. That HIN issue is troubling. You can not just change HIN, but in 95, the Carver protocol was compliant with standards, so that makes no sense to me. The number should be stamped into, or a plate attached to the transom area, under the swim platform. It may also be provided in the bilge to the stern. 95 was a a very good construction year for Carver. They did not have the wild swings in quality like some other brands, but some years are better than others. Good luck! er
