If it's a newer style sump, there will be a check valve in the discharge port of the sump to prevent water from flowing back in.

As Hans mentioned, your trim actuators will not drift down on their own. Fluid must be forced into them by the pump for that to happen. They can however drift up on their own if a valve in the pump leaks as the spring in the actuator is always trying to force the actuator to retract. Nothing beats visual confirmation to ensure the tabs are acting as they should based on your input. km1125 touched on a very common problem; sometimes the wiring is crossed and the tabs have the opposite effect or the graphics on helm control switches can be confusing. Try an outing and activate your tabs as you normally do, once your position is stable for a bit, activate the switches in the opposite direction and see if that makes a difference. If it doesn't, the only way to make sure the tabs are working as they should is with a visual confirmation.

Hello All,
I have discovered where the water is coming into my fwd bilge. There was a loose hose clamp on the A/C condensate hose at the fwd shower sump. Leaked terribly when at high speed.

Now, the question is, why is there water coming out of the hose connection? I believe water is being forced into the sump from outside. There must not be a check valve or the valve has failed. Another issue for me to run down.

This is normal, all boats I have owned did this. These pumps are not self priming therefor there is actually a gap between the impeller and housing which allows water through. Bottom line, nature of the beast.

As for the anchor rode. I have 25 ft of 3/8 chain with 200 ft of 5/8 8 Braet line attached to a 45 lb Manson Supreme. Yes, its heavy but not near as heavy as all chain.
Now, as far as weight up front, I did convert the hanging closet in the fwd berth to a pantry for the wife. It is loaded with canned goods and grocery items. We do have 3 baskets of various items on the fwd bed. Weight I am unsure of but I would guess the whole pantry and baskets no more than 150 lbs. BTW, we are currently living on the boat while doing the loop.

Can't imagine any of that being an issue with the trim of a boat that size.

I’d like to let you know what I have done to mitigate the bow taking on water while underway. Time has passed and I have put a few miles on the boat since my last writing.
1. We removed the “check valve” from the forward shower sump and installed a Big Box Store in-line check valve. We put it near the hull, not the shower sump. The shower sump exits water to the forward part of the hull and about six inches above the waterline. I then installed a clamshell over that exit point. The clamshell is open to the aft.
2. I discovered tons of water coming into the anchor well. Once the rode soaked up the water, the excess started pouring into the bilge. The water was coming from the anchor well drain. While underway, water would shoot up the side of the hull and into the drain thru hull. I put a clamshell over that thru hull with the clam shell opening facing aft.

We travelled 48 miles yesterday with speeds from hull speed to 18 1/2 mph. Checked the fwd bilge and no water. Hopefully, this issue is in the past and I can go on to other things, like cleaning my Tank Watch sensors (PHEW!).

I know I am late to report my findings, but this is what I discovered and how I fixed the issue of water coming into the fwd bilge. I replaced the check valve to the fwd shower sump. Basically, installed a store bought check valve and spliced it into the output line. This helped some, but not completely. I then put a clam shell over the thru hull for the shower sump. That fixed that water intrusion. I had another water intrusion I was not aware of. While underway, I took everything out of the fwd berth to get to the area under the bed. While sticking my head under there, I heard water running. I then opened the panel for the anchor locker and discovered it was full of water and over flowing. A clam shell over the anchor locker drain thru hull fixed that water intrusion. So, as we were traveling, water was flowing up the hull and into those two thru hulls. Adding the clam shells diverted that water. My fwd bilge is now dry. I still check it now and then and am always pleased to see no water there. Thank you for all your comments and suggestions.

Glad you found your problems. My 405 has a clam cover over the anchor drain already strange yours didnt.that would definitely be a place water could enter.
