dstetzel - you may want to re-post your electrical gremlin under "electrical" category. Will get more attention there. Also, just for an info tidbit, I had a goofy situation also. My batteries were not charging from a charger that was too small, or had the wiring wrong. When my batteries were both drawn down to almost 0, my mechanic tested for current coming from the charger, to the battery selector switch. There was nothing coming to that point. Then I wanted to determine for sure, which battery was #1, and which was #2. Unhooked one battery to see where I would lose power to inside lights. Toggled selector switch to #1, lights on. Toggled selector switch to #2, lights still came on. One battery is disconnected, so that should not happen. The mechanic went back to the wiring on the back of the batt selector switch, and discovered the connections from the batt charger, to each 1 & 2 were flipped around. Not sure if that was from factory, or a previous owner, but he thought it was most likely at the factory. The way the wires were set up, the selector switch could not perform it's function, according to the mechanic. I know nothing about electrical, so I take it he was correct. At least now, my selector switch is functioning. If I disconnect one battery, there is no power going to systems from the other automatically. My point is, anything can happen at the manufacturing point, because a set of wires could have been easily mis-marked, prior to final connection, causing issues. Secondary point is, you may want to have some testing done on the back of your battery switches for a similar error. My mechanic connected the charger directly to the batteries, avoiding any route or reroute of electricity. I did replace the charger with a lot higher capacity unit. Good luck. Hey guys. I am Robb.
I have just purchased a 1986 Montego 26. I am really excited to be fixing it up and motor-boating down the ICW. I just got one snag. Can anybody send me a pic of the transom drain plug, so i cam find its location in the engine compartment? Mine has water covering it. Thanks in advance. RR
