Remember, A battery can only be recharged quickly to about 80% then it tapers off to a float charge which will take many many hours which translates to 20hrs plus regardless of how big or how much you paid for your charger. A battery bank should not be drained lower than 50% therefor there is really only 30% of quick charge usable bank capacity. bottom line is you do need a rather large bank to accommodate a whole boat inverter system. I would say around 700 to 800 amps should be the minimum.

I have a Balmor battery monitor. It is one of the best investments I have ever made. Right now I have 2 golf cart batteries hooked to make a 12. This winter I am adding another set forward under the galley floor in the forward bilge as this is the place I have the most space. My bank now does a great job. I have never been below 70% from afternoon until next morning. My pro nautique 50 amp charger brings the bank back quickly. Definite a must have as far as the battery monitor.

Defiantly not looking for a while boat inverter. Just enough to run a few select things on Occaision.

As long as you keep up with anps in and amps out you should have no problems. I've got a 6 Battery bank of trojan T105s have this in my boat and rv I've had the same in a previous Trojan 32 boat I had. I have had them last 9to 10 yrs and still had life left. if you take care of batteries they will last a long time.

Hans, I know the Bluesea unit's been around for a few years and while I've used other big brands, I've never played with or installed a Bluesea unit. Are you happy with it, and if you had to do it again, would you still choose the same unit?

Yes I would recommend this unit. Easy install and very straight forward programming. Love the OLED display. In general, Bluesea stuff is right up there on my list of high quality marine products.

Used the Inverter for the first real time this AM. We are heading home and didn’t want to start the genset at 6:30AM. My 2 T105’s were showing 82%, so I plugged in the coffeemaker (1100W) and made the coffee, and 2 slices of toast. These are pretty high drawing devices. Batteries need up at 72% when done. I am hoping when I get the other 2 batteries Midnight recommended to have 435AH, that there will be more capacity. However, I am happy wth the results of the Edecoa 2500w/5000w surge. Also, I love the way that even with it off, the twin USB ports are powered up.
