Why don't more cruising boats have cabin doors?

My 81 3007 Aft Cabin has doors for both the aft berth and the forward V-berth. Privacy is assured. There is only one head across from the galley sink, but it has a door too .

My previous boat was a 99 Bayliner 3055 Ciera. To your weight question the Bayliner weighed 11741 lbs according to the brochure. My Carver 3007 Aft weighs 10500 lbs so a sedan or bridge boat does not necessarily weigh more than an express model. As to the privacy issue the 3055 had curtains both for the mid cabin and the forward berth. Obviously the curtains do not provide the same quality of privacy as doors do.

The thing that surprised me most about the Carver, it was the only 30 footer I looked at that has a separate stand up/sit down shower separate from the head.

There are things I like about both boats and things I don't like. All boats are a compromise of sorts.
