Well Hans, that not the sales pitch I was looking for, but do you know where I can buy a slide projector?
I went and took some measurements today, the 11,000 btu Marinaire unit would be a tight fit. It’s 14.4 inches high and I have only have 14.5 inches available right around the the compartment hatch and that may be too close a fit.

My 98 also came with 2 MARINE AIR. 16000 btu. Units.
My forward one gave up so I replaced it with a MARINAIRE thinking it was the same manufacturer. IT IS NOT!!!!!! Made cheap as reflected in the price.
It lasted me just over a year so no more warranted.
Had to buy another and this time went to WEST MARINE and added 2 extra years of warrantee.
I’m afraid my other original AC unit will be pooping out in the near future and I will not try to go cheapest to replace.

Thanks to all for you input. I finally decided which one to go with and have it ordered. And the winner is……
WABASTO! Here’s why I went with the WABASTO. As CaptDenny mentioned above, the Marinaire only had a 1 year warranty. The WABASTO has a 2 year warranty. I stayed with the same BTU’s as the original, 12,000 BTU’s. Actually the WABASTO has an additional 1,000 BTU’s for heat, so 12k BTU’s cool/13K BTU’s heat. I also found it on sale much cheaper at $1399 including shipping from Citimarine. I ordered it Tuesday and it arrived today. So this weekend I will be installing it. The old unit was really loud when the compressor would kick in, so I’m looking forward to this new unit.

I had a 7000 BTU original marine Air in the aft cabin and used the marinaire 6,000 to replace and am very happy and it throws out plenty of air, even after reducing the factory duct from 5 to 4 inch. Remote temp sensor comes with it as well as a cool display and wireless remote!
