On the topic of amateur installs, the PO of my 3207 installed a battery charger and made nearly every possible mistake:
1. The AC wiring passes through a hole in sheet metal with no chafe protection.
2. One of the DC cables runs directly to one of the batteries with no strain relief.
3. None of the DC cables have any disconnect or over-current protection.
4. Only one of the DC cables is tinned.
5. Only one of the DC cables is heavy enough AWG and it's the shortest run. The longer runs are smaller gauge.
The battery charger was installed right-side-up. I guess that's something.
