Nice find and good post! I'm surprised they recommend just removing the screen instead of cleaning or replacing it. I'm sure it was supposed to serve a purpose when it was designed. If it's clogged up it's obviously catching something that shouldn't be in there.

That is common when fuel injected boats are running on ethanol gas. The injectors get a varnish like layer inside a fuel chamber and cause detonation problems. Glad it's up and running. 4200 RPM sounds about right. 8-) er
