I appreciate the insights and input from everyone. Just wanted to bring an update about the thead. After calculating the cost of hauling out, storage, wrapping, etc., vs regular off-season winterizing and storage in the current covered slip, we concluded that the savings would be minimal and not worth the hassle. Even the marina owner said that she couldn't guarantee we would have a slip there in two years.

Also, the status quo situation at the marina would give us the opportunity to use the boat next season, if only for a few occasions, depending on where our son decides to go for his post-secondary studies.

Great to hear you might be able to still use her now and then.

Smart move. Will the boat be floating in the water, or sitting on a lift? Do you use a bubbler system? Feel for you with those college costs, but it is totally worth it. When my sons finally graduated, I felt like I got a huge raise. They are both doing extremely well and have both provided me with grandchildren. AND THAT, my friend, is the best part if life!!!!! 8-) er

Sorry for the late reply...I've been busy taking my son around to university open houses and visits. I appreciate the encouraging words re: the upcoming post secondary expenses. Like you, we believe they are well worth it. That's what my parents (and my wife's parents) did and we are where we are, in great part, thanks to their efforts.

Yes, the boat sits on a lift during the off season.
