I never thought of connecting the tube to the dipstick tube itself, I’ve always put the suction tube into the dipstick tube. The Volvo 740’s have a kinky dipstick tube, I’ll have to try connecting my suction pump to the dipstick tube itself!

Just an FYI......connecting to the dipstick tube to evacuate the oil only works when the tube is connected to the bottom of the oil pan.....most are now but some older ones may not be, have a look first, some even have threads to connect a hose.
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.
