Qr Bbpost Good Day, new member and thinking hard about being a new Carver owner. Torn between a 538 Montego and a 38 Santego. One big factor, either one will need to be shipped. Pretty sure the Montego only needs the radar arch removed, but the Santego might need the entire flybridge removed. Has anyone shipped a Santego 38? will the flybridge need to come off? what all is involved?

Rootbeerfloat, what year of 38 Santego? there were actually two different 38 Santego's and they are often confused with each other. Before 92 the original 38 Santego's (3867 and 640) were larger than the one's after 92, which were the original 34 Santego's which were re-badged the 380 Santego. What would have to be removed depends upon the carrier and how high their trailer decking is and where you are moving from and to. Typically, there is a statutory 13'6" height limit and a 96" width limit, unless you have oversize permits. I can tell my 1989 3867 Santego has a beam of 14 feet and a height of approximately 19'6" from keel to top radar tower. Removing the radar tower would drop the overall height about 5 feet. The best thing to do would be to contact a marine shipper and ask them. I can send you a spec sheet from Carver on the Older 38 Santego if the one your considering was a 92 model year or older. if not, then try to find the specs for a 92 or later 380 Santego or a 3467 Santego .
