Anything is possible. Make sure you check the steering arm located by the rudders for a leak. That is very typical. 8-) er

When I blew the seals on mine I found a very slow leak at the reservoir after reinstalling. There are 2 bleader screws on the reservoir, one needed the rubber o ring replaced. I ended up leaving a piece of paper towel under it when I wasn’t at the boat to confirm bc the leak was so small it rarely dripped.

This may help if you tackle it yourself.

I have searched for a leak/failure and cannot find anything. Could it be possible the upper helm seal simply failed due to fatigue? Thanks Cooler for the fluid advice.

There are a handful of O-rings in there that eventually will harden and allow some leaking. Not really that hard to replace, just have to be careful taking apart and re-assembling. And there are some springs in there too, so be careful when you open it up. Definitely look at videos or follow the threads on this site where folks have detailed info on how they rebuilt theirs.

Mine was leaking. I tightened the connections a bit and that solved the problem.
