No thats all good, thanks for the offer, just got a pic , small keel, very small........just where is the aft head shower sump located ? I am thinking it is under that floor hatch just starboard of the bed, good guess or ??? How does this boat back in to a slip, good manners or pushed by wind easily.

We are getting close here.....just have to clear up the oil issues I mentioned, so we will see how the owner handles it, seems like good people.

Yes, the sump is between the bunk and the head door. Boat backs in fine, but I try to avoid windy days as the boat does offer a lot of sail area.
Please tell me you are getting a survey.

The boat handles well in close quarters. But in windy conditions, it is a tall boat and can be a challenge. Just like any other boat of this type.
It should have mercruiser or crusader 7.4's, diesels were available but hard to find. I don't think they offered these with 5.7's, but is so I would think twice, unless you are just a hull speed cruiser.

Yes of course.....I usually do my own to a point ( moisture meter, small plastic hammer) so I can see if the boat is worthy enough then get a certified surveyor. Well you have to anyway for insurance but lately some of the surveys I have read are full of mistakes of one kind or another, seem to read like they are trying to avoid responsibility for anything they say. Lets face it anyone can count life jackets/lines etc and suggest ABYC recs...

Just to add to that......According to what I have recently heard insurance providers up here are getting difficult, refusing coverage until a survey is inspected by their staff and they are requiring certain repairs to be made to get the marina required coverage. Just learned that this week..... .

This boat has the blue TBI big blocks, raw water cooled though, it is nice , we are still not sure yet though.

The oil could be anything. Could be a leak but could also be a sloppy oil change, and if they missed removing a filter seal that didn't come off when the old filter was removed, that would have caused oil to spray everywhere. I've seen this so many times, and it's not always easy to clean up some areas.

A tip; if you see additional primary/external fuel filters besides those already on the engine, you may want to check the fuel in them (hoping they haven't been replaced recently), it could be a an effort to Band-Aid an issue going on in the fuel tanks. Typically the only item that should have a remote filter is the generator.

If it’s the one I’m thinking of, it’s a nice clean looking boat for the age.I’m jealous for sure. I had 2 boat deals go bad post survey. I went and picked up moisture meter and hammer as well. It get’s expensive paying $500+ to find out a boat is junk when you could just rule it out yourself right away. Yes, insurance up here has become a real pain. It took me around a week to hear back from them after I submitted the survey. Once they did ok it they wanted every issue noted in the survey repaired, safety issue or not. Even stuff like the busted shower sump and non working fridge. I hope it works out for you.Good luck.

Just got to the boat and took some pics if interested. Boat does have a keel all the way back to where the shafts come thru the bottom and then the bottom starts a slight upward slope.
I was pleasantly surprised as most of the bottom was already painted, not much left to go, still need to paint the running gear.

Another question.....are all the centre bilges connected so all water flows aft or forward depending. Or is the aft bilge completely separate from the engine room and forward area.

Where is the aft air unit....under the bed maybe. This will just save me hunting all over if we have another trip up there to consider further. It is looking a bit iffy now, so we will see further this week.

Heh Merkin..... Who you with...?....they made you fix everything, wow... ....how did you have to prove it, did they allow you coverage for the marina while it got fixed......did they request a marine mechanic do the work or were you allowed to work on it to satisfy the insurance. They have all gone nuts near as I can tell......

I’m with Premier through cooperators. I shopped a bit though. I forget the other ones I called but they all wanted basically the same thing. I took pics and videos to send them when the work was done. I bought the boat in Parry Sound and moved it by truck to Port Dover on the hard for a week or so to complete the work list. They didn’t care who did the work. I had the PO do cutlass bearings but most of the issues were just throw some money at it and buy new. New Fridge, New Battery charger and boxes, New fwd escape Hatch, New electronics, New electric stove top.,,etc Insurance started after I completed the list. I did have the seller take care of some of the items in order to close the deal. It was a COVID purchase so I definitely overpayed but I also sold a trailerable fishing boat during that time so it evened out. Can’t put a price on time.

The aft AC should be under the bed in the aft berth. From what I remember there may be a drain plug you can remove in the bulkhead between the engine compartment and the forward bilge in the area under the dinette table if you want one bilge area to drain into the other. I can't recall if the same applies to the aft bulkhead.
